Seasons come, and seasons go...

Hello friends,
It has been a big year for Little Soursob, and a year that seems to have come to an end well before we've caught up with it. Nevertheless, on we stitch into 2009.

This year, we have developed our product range with new inspirations. Ned Kelly has made an appearance, and we have taken to scouring the neighbourhood for twigs to create our framed insect specimens that look just like the real ones (just slightly less creepy, and cruel). Another new addition, Earth Mumma, has come along to look after everyone, and we love having her around. Especially when things get a bit too much.

As our babes sleep, we'll continue to stitch and stuff. And we hope you like what we make.

Thank you to everyone for their unending support and feedback. Without it, the faces of Giselle, the feathers of Goosey, the spine of Dino and the twiggy life of our insect specimens would not have the life they have. And our quilts, bibs and blankets would only be seen in our humble homes. But that's not nearly as fulfilling.

Best wishes for a safe 2009 filled with love.

Check us out!

Hello friends,
Thank you all for your support at the markets. We had a successful few weeks, and look forward to whatever comes next with our renewed confidence. We've been busy creating an extensive range of products and a catalogue to show them off, so hopefully soon you'll see us spread wider around the country... fingers (and sewing needles) crossed. In the meantime, scroll down to see our products, descriptions and prices. Feedback is, as always, very welcome.
With love, Anne and Kerrie.

P.S. We were featured in MAG - the music magazine in JB Hi Fi, General Pants and many cafes around the country.

New Products!

When we are not frantically stitching and sewing, we are sitting, hands poised at the machines awaiting your orders. See below for a sample range of our products. Fabric patterns and colours are examples only, as each and every Little Soursob piece is unique – just the way it should be. Please have a look at our pieces, and if something catches your eye, email us with an order, a request for fabric samples, or even to pass on your welcomed comments, criticisms or compliments.
Until next (stitch in) time...
Anne and Kerrie.

PRODUCTS:

ROWEN PACKS – These packs make perfect gifts for new parents. Beautifully encased in a handmade fabric satchel, each pack includes a bib and blanket – both backed with a high –quality fleece to lock any moisture and keep the child completely dry. Also included is a Rowen doll, to protect your child from any nasties. The story behind the Rowen doll is also attached to the pack. The necessities for new motherhood are here.

BIBS – A selection of fabrics and prints are used to create a wide range of bibs, from aeroplanes to leopard-print, to stripes, spots or paisley.
Each bib is backed with a high-quality fleece to seal the moisture in the bib and keep the child's clothes totally dry. Fastened with stud buttons on one shoulder for easy removal.

GISELE DOLL - Our most popular item. Hand-embroidered faces mean you get a unique Gisele no one else will own. She has personality. She is beautiful, she is anyone you want her to be.
Great gifts for baby showers, new arrivals or birthdays. She's filled with 100% wool stuffing, with a range of patterns, fabrics and colours to match your style.
(See picture at top for variations.)

BOB and BOBETTE
These two go hand in hand. Always smiling (each embroidered smile unique, but always happy), they take care of each other, and together, they'll take care of you. Their bells ring when they move, so you'll know they're there for you. Separate them if you like, but they mean so much more as a pair. They're cute additions to any mantle or soft toy shelf, made with care and stuffed with 100% wool.

DINO – Bigger than Gisele or Bob and Bobette, Dino is good for cuddles. For the boys scared of 'girl germs' from Gisele, Dino is the perfect companion.

GOOSEY – This fine bird won't bow her head to anybody. With each feather hand-cut and hand-sewn onto her body, this is a wonderful and quality way to give your child something tactile – feel the feathers flap as you run your fingers along her. Made from beautiful wool felt, she's also stuffed with pure wool filling. Goosey prefers dry land rather than a wet lake and most happy sitting on a mantle piece overseeing her companions.

TEA COSIES – Made from vintage linen tea towels, each one of these tea cosies is unique, no design will be found twice (so unless you snap us the design you like, it'll be gone forever!). Having something that your know no one else can get will make your tea taste so much sweeter. They're stuffed with quality filling to snuggle your tea and keep it warm. New designs added all the time – each time we find a gem of a tea towel!

BIRD NEST MOBILE – These mobiles are intricate pieces of craftsmanship, wound and bound by hand. The birds are also hand-sewn and come as a package with their home. Best suited to the indoors, these little birds are afraid of flying and are happiest sitting in their nest being softly moved by a gentle breeze.

COT QUILT – Each one of these hand-made quilts is made with a beautiful 100% wool inner-lay for warmth (and washability), and quality vintage and hand-picked fabrics to brighten any room without the clichéd "baby" look. This quilt will keep your baby warm at night, and stay with your child through to adulthood. Approx. 1 metre x 1.5 metres. Larger sizes available.

Thank you for visiting the page of Little Soursob.

When our first-borns arrived, we needed a creative outlet. Anne's son had an incredibly "powerful" reflux issue and needed a quality bib to keep his clothes dry. And so Little Soursob was born. Being with kids all the time, things become very simple. You slow down. Children look beyond the obvious, so you start to look at the world differently.

With children on the knee, hands on the sewing machine, and the necessary sense of humour, these unique pieces were created. Some of the material you can see is vintage, some is hand-picked from op shops and fabric stores around Melbourne.

With ideas constantly evolving, this label continues to grow, and we hope you enjoy our inspired creations.
